Free budgeting software can be good, as long as the quality is there. Here are options that will help you electronically keep track of your spending. These are all downloadable programs as I believe it to be ill-advised using a website based program for security reasons.
The descriptions for each of the programs come directly off the respective home pages of the listed websites. Click each link will open a new browser window.

With SimpleD Budget, you can keep track of your expenses for each month by allocating your income into "categories" such as Mortgage, Entertainment, etc., and as you spend money throughout the month, you enter the amount into a category. SimpleD Budget will let you see how much you have left in each category, or see how fast you are spending.
